Meet the PaceControls Team

Susann Felton
President
Ms. Felton, an experienced energy executive, heads the PaceControls team. Prior to joining PaceControls, Ms. Felton was Vice President, External Affairs East and Director of Corporate Regulatory Affairs for Mirant Corporation (www.mirant.com). While at Mirant, she was charged to design and implement regulatory strategies to drive public policy and regulation during the evolving restructuring of the U.S. electric industry, and she has worked with officials at all levels of federal, state and local government and in the energy and related industries.

Ms. Felton previously spent 23 years at Potomac Electric Power Company (www.pepco.com) in various positions culminating in her service as Vice President, Generation Fuels and Business Planning for Pepco's 5,400 MW Generation Business Unit. Ms. Felton was the only Pepco officer retained by Mirant in connection with its acquisition of the Generation Business Unit's assets in 2001.

Ms. Felton holds an M.B.A. in International Relations in Business from American University in Washington, DC. Ms. Felton is also the co-founder and President of Waterfront Energy Capital, LLC. Waterfront is an advisory company with a focus on bringing to market exciting new technologies and services in conservation, renewable energy and sustainable development.

Thomas Mills
Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Mills, co-founder of Waterfront Energy Capital, LLC, previously served as Senior Vice President-Business Development for Power Efficiency Corporation (www.powerefficiencycorp.com). In that role, he was responsible for marketing the company’s energy-saving motor controllers to public-sector, commercial and industrial customers and for managing the firm’s private-label manufacturing relationships with multinational OEMs.

For PaceControls, in addition to his operating and marketing roles, Mr. Mills also administers the company’s financing and energy conservation rebate services for its customers and OEM partners. Mr. Mills has worked with the U.S. electric industry and its regulators for over a dozen years and has significant small-company, corporate financing and strategic partnering experience.

Mr. Mills holds a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University and an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He has done doctoral work in Finance and in Logistics, Technology & Project Management at the School of Business, George Washington University, in Washington, DC, and is qualified as a Registered Representative with the NASD (Series 7 and 63).

Dan Cook, C.E.T.
Senior Vice President, Canadian Operations
Mr. Cook is CEO for Roxidy Games, Inc., a computer game software company, and has previously served as a management consultant within the automotive industry. As a consultant and auditor he was responsible for reviewing and developing manufacturing companies to enable them to meet international automotive standards.

For PaceControls, Mr. Cook administers the company’s Canadian operations and marketing. He will also manage the supply base and support new product development. Mr. Cook has worked in North American manufacturing for over twenty five years and has significant exposure to the needs of Industry.

Mr. Cooks holds a C.E.T. from OACETT, a Canadian professional status. He graduated as both an Industrial Technician and Mechanical Technologist in the engineering fields from Georgian College. Presently he maintains ISO9001, ISO14001 and TS16949 Lead Auditor Status.

John Cusack, P.E.
Senior Vice President, Business Development (Acting)
Mr. Cusack brings a wealth of experience from his tenure as president of Gifford Park Associates, a New York-based management firm specializing in environmental finance, energy, environmental technology and risk management.

Mr. Cusack was previously CEP of Innovate (www.innovestgroup.com), an environmental finance research specialist that grew from 3 to 50 people.  He has been a director of the World Environmental Center and has held senior positions with ABB (www.abb.com), as well as several environmental technology companies.

Mr. Cusack also serves on PaceControls’ Advisory Board.  He holds an M.C.E. in Environmental Engineering & Science from Manhattan College and an M.B.A. from New York University, and is a registered Professional Engineer in New York State.

John Skarupa
Chief Technician
Mr. Skarupa is PaceControls’ chief training technician, and also provides online technical assistance via the company’s toll-free hotline, 877-PACE-HVAC.  Mr. Skarupa brings over 25 years of HVACR industry installation and maintenance experience, and has installed and supervised the installation of both PACE1 and PACE2 units for over 5 years.

As the former manager of a Lennox-certified HVAC contracting firm, Mr. Skarupa’s deep industry knowledge and solid teaching skills make him an excellent resource for briefing new HVACR distribution-partner staffs on installations, and in communications with HVACR OEM technical departments.

Stan Budney
Advisor
Mr. Budney is the inventor of the PaceController and the founder of DIGISTAN, the predecessor company to PaceControls. A former Westinghouse engineer and entrepreneur who is now retired, he holds an engineering degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as graduate work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory on a DOE fellowship.

Mr. Budney is licensing the PaceController technology and patents to PaceControls through Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future (www.pennfuture.org).
